Gerhard Seizer is a Creative Change Agent, going beyond ‘thinking through making’, by ’thinking it through and making it happen’.
He strongly believes that only by creating balance and harmony between business and creativity can true innovation be achieved – ultimately creating meaningful physical and digital experiences.
Born and raised in Germany, he studied design rooted in the Bauhaus tradition and worked most of his 20 professional years in Japan, China and the US. Based on his expertise in East/West creative culture building, Gerhard taught design thinking processes across all of Eurasia and successfully founded the first international full-service creative agency in China. Working with both start-ups and multi-national corporations, he helped craft product and brand experiences for tomorrow's global users.
If he is not out crossing another continent in one of many overlanding explorations, he can be found forest bathing in the Pacific Northwest. He is currently based in Seattle/USA, learning new change strategies from his one-year-old daughter, "daddy’s little girl".

“Efficiency is doing things right; effectiveness is doing the right things.”
I am a Creative Change Agent, going beyond ‘thinking through making’, by ’thinking it through and making it happen’. I strongly believe that only by creating balance and harmony between business and creativity true innovation can be achieved – ultimately leading to meaningful physical and digital experiences. Looking beyond projects and programs, I am thinking in ecosystems defining the dependencies and relationships between people, spaces, technologies, information and many more.
Utilizing my cultural intelligence and international design expertise, I am a multigenerational influencer with the ability to effectively build relationships, activating and inspiring teams, peers, clients and executives alike. Synthesizing and translating insights to meaning enables me to cut through ambiguity, creating a common understanding of the necessary conditions to drive change towards desired business impact.
The combination of collaboration and leadership allows me to craft a shared vision, while my human centered design thinking approach enables me to create a POV, building the core strategy of the vision. Converting these into actionable creative direction, I lead the implementation, while allowing the individual contributor to see the relevance of their work, coaching and directing them on the way.
Crafting the vision, building the strategy and guiding the implementation enable me to seamlessly and effectively close the loop between User Insights and meaningful User Experiences, making it real at scale.

The 3 years with TEAGUE in Seattle, were all about navigating insights through the multinational complexity of corporate ecosystems, seeing strategic customer experience projects through to meaningful real world result.
Co-developing TEAGUE’s Creative Direction and Creative Process practice allowed me to activate and engage multinational and cross functional teams, co-located in different organizations and at multiple global locations. By focusing on design thinking developments for future forward visions around strategic CX (Customer Experience) Design I gave meaning to a multitude of insights and co-authored the vision of next gen. aviation business models. Translating insights into a POV I built the strategy to implementing showcase studies around the future of aviation and cabin experience. Examples are – the BOEING 2050 Vision – or the conceptual development of an industry changing 'Long Haul Low Cost Carrier' business model.
My entrepreneurial initiation of industry and partnership outreach, combined with biz-dev collaboration and creative leadership resulted in a $100 million JV between BOEING and Adient, creating the biggest disruption in the aviation seating as core of BOEING’s vertical integration strategy.

My time with MING Labs I focused on restructuring the existing UX/UI office in Berlin, improving all organizational and creative processes, activating the multinational and interdisciplinary team around a common understanding of digital experience design.
Analyzing the ecosystem of the digital start-up world, I translated market insights to action steps and as result extended the team, office and offerings to combine digital and physical human centered experiences. By growing crucial capabilities I managed to attract new start-up clients for partnerships on large business impact projects. Highlight projects were – a digital and physical revolutionary market and community leadership for organic liquid egg white (Pumperlgsund) – and the world’s first AI driven and App-controlled directional home lighting solution (Luke Roberts).

Based on relationships and collaboration with various partners and investors, I single handedly started and built the WILDDESIGN Shanghai office in 2006 – the first international design consultancy in China. The following 8 years I grew the office to a full service 360o brand and design agency, strategizing and implementing all business areas from HR, finance, biz-dev, admin, to all creative disciplines and processes – always with a focus around human centered design thinking.
My cultural intelligence allowed me to grow a multinational and interdisciplinary creative team of design experts, coaching and directing them to grow into future industry leaders. Such creative force enabled me to activate lasting business relationships and to build retainer businesses with a global client base from many different industries. I crafted high market impact and meaningful experiences, for brands like Clarks, Unilever, Bosch, SanDisk, BASF and many more.
Examples are – the 2008 to 2014 physical and digital market presence of Fissler China, from online through retail to event experience and sub-brand development – the 2012 reimagining of Geberit China’s Monolith sanitary modules – or the 2012 full physical and digital brand revamp of Schiesser China.
05/2001 – 12/2005
During my 5 years at the Panasonic Tokyo headquarters I managed to build lasting business relationships as creative key liaison officer for all international projects with Panasonic’s US based alliance partners P&G and Johnson&Johnson. This lead to award-winning innovative co- development projects from initial strategy to final market introduction, creating lasting business impact on global scale and unprecedented user experiences in the facial, skin and hair care industry.
Giving meaning to Panasonic’s international design targets, I crafted the vision, build the strategy and lead the implemented of Panasonic's global design team at the Tokyo headquarters. Parallel I initiated intercultural collaboration with EU based universities, leading to international design excellence recognition in government sponsored design exhibitions.
During my final years, I analyzed the diverse ecosystem of China market insights and translated these into actionable design strategies, while building relationships across different business unites in order to allow me the inception of a Panasonic Design Center Shanghai.
